Making Lemonade

Today we made lemonade; not the lemonade from the supermarket but natural lemonade.
If you want to make it here is the recipe:
  • A clean, 1.5 litre plastic bottle, with a screw-on cap
  • three lemons
  • a cup of sugar
  • a little bit of granulated yeast
  • a jug for pouring
  • a bowl
  1. Get three lemons and squeeze them in to a bowl.
  2. Put 1 cup of sugar in the jug and fill it with boiling water up to 2.5cups. Stir it till the sugar has dissolved, then add water until you reach 4 cups.
  3. Pour the sugar mixture into the bottle then pour the lemon mixture into the bottle.
  4. Add a quarter of a teaspoon of yeast in your bottle.
  5. Fill the rest of your bottle with cold water, but remember to leave 5cm at the top.
  6. The lemonade needs to become fizzy, so leave it in a mild place for about four days.
  7. Before you open it leave it in the fridge for a few hours.
VOILA!!
YOU HAVE MADE LEMONADE!!
I really enjoyed making this lemonade in the school staffroom. We put all the ingredients in and we left it to become fizzy. I can't wait for Monday to come because we can have some lemonade and I love lemonade!!

  1. We love lemonade, too! I have four kids, 9 is the eldest (girl), 3 is the youngest (also girl) and I have a twin 6-year old boys in between. All four of them have their own favorite lemonade recipe. When I wanted to keep them busy, I let them make their own, even my 3-year old! Of course, they do make a lot of mess, lol! But they know the rules, if they want to use the kitchen they would have to learn to clean after themselves! ;)
